Iran auteur to judge Nepal film festival

The 6th Nepal Human Rights International filmfest is to host Zohreh Zamani, Iranian filmmaker as member of the jury.

Zamani, who is both filmmaker and the head of Anzali Youth Cinema, will be on the jury panel of the festival.

She will travel to Kathmandu, Nepal to attend the March 2018 event.

Zohreh Zamani was the first Muslim woman to join the jury panel of the Religion Today Film Festival in 2010 in Italy, as well as the 2012 Dhaka International Film Festival. Two years later, she was selected as head of jury for the short films sector of Dhaka Film Festival, in which 216 flicks were screened, and hosted more than a hundred international figures.

The director started her career back in 2000 with the Iranian Youth Cinema Society in the port city of Anzali, North of Iran.

Zamani has so far produced 10 movies, mostly praised at domestic and international film festivals.

In an interview, she told reporters that the Nepalese festival aims to, by means of the language of cinema, promote human rights over the globe and to establish a peaceful society, one in which equality, brotherhood and human values are praised more than ever.

The event is slated to be held March 7 to 10, 2018, in Katmandu, Nepal.
